Filmmaker Anuparna Roy, who scripted history at the Venice Film Festival by winning the Orizzonti Award (Best Director) for Songs Of Forgotten Trees, is turning her milestone into motion. Bollywood Hungama was among the first ones to report that the bookings of Jolly LLB 3’s shows were kept on hold by PVR Inox due to VPF (Virtual Print Fee) issues. The bookings were stopped from the evening of Wednesday, September 17 and resumed on the morning of September 18. The issue wasn’t resolved, but it was agreed upon to commence bookings. However, the team of the film got a jolt when the bookings of the film were suspended yet again on Thursday evening by the multiplex chain. A source told Bollywood Hungama, “The bookings were yet again kept on hold and this happened less than 12 hours before the first show of the film. The team of the film immediately got into a negotiation mode. The Bombay High Court on Wednesday dismissed a petition that sought to stall the release of Jolly LLB 3, starring Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi. The courtroom drama, directed by Subhash Kapoor, is scheduled to hit theatres this Friday, September 19. The plea, filed by the Association for Aiding Justice, alleged that the film ridiculed lawyers and judges. It also objected to the song ‘Bhai Vakeel Hai’, claiming it demeaned the legal profession. During the hearing, advocate Dipesh Siroya, appearing for the petitioner, pointed to a scene where judges are referred to as “mamu,” calling the term derogatory. However, the bench of Chief Justice Shree Chandrashekhar and Justice Gautam Ankhad brushed aside the concerns. “We have been facing mockery since day one. Don’t worry about us,” the judges remarked while rejecting the plea.
